Six bungalows built from local materials : 3 doubles, 3 twins. The bungalows are right on the white sand beach. A sanitary block offers 2 toilets and 2 showers (shared) with cold water. Food is a fixed menu offering good family cooking based on local products and seafood. Limited bar.

Tours & Activities All tours are conducted by a local guide speaking Bislama, French and English. Peter, your guide, is a field worker from the Cultural Centre and can organise expeditions in the highlands.

  • Lakatoro cultural centre: Tour by road (approx 2 hrs), enabling you to discover some of the variety of art and civilisation of Malakula. The Centre is linked to the Cultural Centre in Port Vila and has some unique art and crafts, including chiefs' graves, historical sites, etc. Masks, tam-tams, headdresses of all kinds amongst the most original in Oceania.
  • Small Nambas: This tour to the custom village, 15 minute away by foot from your jetty (approx. 3 hours), is a must. The people have kept their traditions and live as they did centuries ago. Drums will beat for your arrival and you will be offered ritual dances. Women will be accompanied by the village women to visit the houses and discover village daily life while men will visit the chief's Nakamal.
  • Wala Tam-tam tour: Visit the traditional dancing grounds of Wala with their giant wooden slit drums (approx. 1h 1/2 by foot). Your guide will explain to you how grades are attained and how custom ceremonies are performed.
  • Rano Tam-tam tour: Half day tour to the neighbouring island of Rano. You will cross the short distance by boat and discover how these two islands of Wala and Rano have evolved as twins as can be seen by comparing their dancing grounds (includes transport and entry fee).
  • Blue wind tour: Day tour in sailing canoe. This tour enables you to sail in a traditional canoe around the islands. Stop for a delightful picnic on a deserted sand beach (take plenty of sun screen).
  • Vao Island half day tour: Tour to visit the island of Vao and its master craftsmen, carvers of tam-tam and ritual figures (includes transport and entry fee).
  • Wartwo village: Day and night tour to a traditional custom village of the Small Nambas of South Malakula.The inhabitants have kept their traditional life style and show traditional dances (Full day and a night).
  • Free Canoe hire: Try paddling a traditional canoe. Our staff will help you to start.
