Nagar is a quiet and peaceful beachfront resort situated on the northern coast of Efate. One and a half hour drive away from Port Vila, Nagar bungalows offer the ideal retreat for the budget traveller. Nagar is family run and offers activities and tours to neighbouring islands, custom villages and WW2 relics. 5 small bungalows built of coral stones and local material with shared showers(2) and toilets(2), 3 large family bungalows with 2-4 bedrooms and private bath and toilet. The family bungalows are ideally appointed for long stays in peaceful surroundings. Restaurant and bar are well appointed as Nagar is visited three times a week by tours from Port Vila. Buffet lunches and seafood are available. Twice a week Nagar offers a melanesian meal and guests are welcome to eat at the womens' club at Paonangisu. Nagar is a perfect base to explore the islands adjoining Efate: Nguna, Pele and Emao. The Nagar landlord is also the custom owner of Kakula island which, unlike Nagar, is surrounded by white sand beaches. Day tour to Paonangisu village and WWII relics: Visit the village of Paonangisu where you will be welcomed by the womens' club. The women will show you their traditional activities, such as gardening, weaving and cooking. After your Melanesian picnic, you will visit by canoe or boat the WWII local museum and two WWII US planes crashed in the mangroves. Day tour to Nguna island: Cross the bay and visit the impressive ancient volcanic island of Nguna. Your tour includes a visit to the local custom village, demonstration of traditional dancing and a Melanesian lunch. Day tour to Paonangisu and Nature walk: Your tour will take you by foot to the village of Paonangisu and to Savaki, an abandoned village, where you will visit the gardens and learn how yams, manioc, bananas, bush medicine are grown and harvested. Half day jungle trek tour to Epule village: Half day tour to Epule custom village, resting peacefully next to the river. Visit the houses and admire the mats and handicrafts. Bottom fishing half day tour: Charter one of our local fishing boats and spend half a day bottom fishing for delicious poulet-fish or reef fish, barbecued on the beach, should you catch any (maximum 4 persons). Free Canoe hire : Try your ability at paddling a traditional canoe.
