North Ambrym Magic Festival 2008 - a must experience!!

Scheduled to take place at the home island of ‘custom magic’ that is rich in authentic flare and beautiful in nature, the north Ambrym Magic Festival 2008 is presaged to be another successful event following on from last year 2007.

The 3 days festival will run from 21st to 23rd July of this year.

Day 1 will highlight a selection of kids performing the Rom dance after successfully accomplishing several weeks of custom ‘probation’ to fully equip them in preparation for the Rom dance.

Day 2 is the paramount Chief’s day and there will be demonstration on how to summon the spirit of a past Chief, to be released from his grave and show a sign of his reemergence. There will also be a lot of custom dancing happening on the day.

Day 3 is the festival’s grand finale which will feature custom magic and demonstrations such as fishing for and catching a live fish from the ground, planting a taro (root crop) stalk and minutes later harvesting a fully grown taro from that one stalk, which realistically would have taken 7-8 months to mature.

This North Ambrym Magic festival 2008, is a ‘DON’T MISS OUT!” and a lifetime experience.

Accommodation is organized by the community.
