3 DAYS/ 2 NIGHTS MAEWO (SPECIAL) CULTURAL FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 20 - 22, 2006

A unique experience that differs from the outer islands in Vanuatu. The island itself comprehends some remarkable traditions and custom values one finds it interesting and more educational. The package has been put together to allow you to visit our cultural activities. Find below our 3 days/ 2 nights Festival.

PROGRAM

Day One: Wednesday September 20th, 2006
11.00 hrs: Transfer Airport/ Nasawa

14.00 hrs: Opening of the Cultural Festival

  Parade with all participants to the Festival ground

09.00 hrs: Part III
How man and woman lived on the island and named it, and educated themselves to a new living in custom ways of all different areas, till today.
Note:
The objectives of these is the creation of the island, and the creation of man on the island and the creation of living custom ways in all different levels which adopted ages by ages and generations by generations till today.

10.00 hrs: - Custom, tradition & culture and education – activities begin.
  - Demonstration of different sand drawings
  - Children games – different types
- Traditional fire making
  - Weaving of baskets, mats, hats, etc...
  - Varity of food baked, roasted, cooked in different ways.
  - Carving – different types
  - Crops – taro, yam, bananas, cabbages, etc...

12.30 hrs: Lunch

14.00 hrs:  Pig Killing Ceremony  
The demonstrating of pig killing in two (2) systems.
A)
Demonstrating the pig killing ceremony at the Nasara with each pig tied to one Mwele (Namele) to ten Mwele planted in promoting the person to achieving his chiefly name and title and also gives him the power to protect his custom law and train his leadership for the future.

B)
Demonstrating the pig killing ceremony inside the Nakamal in the steps of Tambu Fire in promoting the person to achieving his chiefly name and title and also give him the power to protect his custom law and train his leadership for the future.

15.00 hrs: Discover the Magic of Maewo
  - Swallowing of the Sea Snake
  - Pigeon hunting (he comes and sits on stick)
  - Conch Shell hanging from Mwele leaf
  - Fire walking (on red-hot lap-lap rocks)
  - Plus heaps more.

16.30 hrs: Closing Prayer
  
18.00 hrs: Dinner (Booking at Sanasom Food Stall at the Festival Ground)

Day Three: Thursday September 22nd, 2006
08.00 hrs: Breakfast

  Outside Tours:

Visit to the Nagriamel Station
(The custom movement that focused on the economic       independence based on the Republican Policy/ System)
  
Visit to the Nasawa Waterfall called “Terseo – Seo I Molmwango Tribe Talanglang”

Take a 30 minutes walk to Sanasom Raymond Bungalows to visit the following:
• Moon Cave(Malangaivula)
• Ancient (Nakamal) Cave (Malangatavarsoso)
• Spirit Garden (Mata Ni Boe Kia Mwele)
• Water Taro Patch (Physical Garden)


At Sanasom Raymond Bungalows, there will be a ceremony: Laying of Memorial Stone to commemorate the Sanasom Raymond Bungalows, a tourism project.

Take a walk back to the Festival Ground

12.30 hrs: Lunch (Booking at Sanasom Food Stall at the Festival Ground)

14.00 hrs: Preparation of Island Night. All participants and locals are asked to participate in this event! It involves traditional cooking (ground oven) of taro, yam, manioc, beef, fish, vegetables, etc...

16.00 hrs: Official Closing of the Maewo (Special) Cultural Festival
 a) Speech from the President of Maewo (Special) Cultural Festival
  
b) Presentation of Gifts to invited guests

c) Presentation of Gifts to different communities on Maewo

d) Speech from MP Philip Boedoro / Declaration of Official Closing of Maewo (Special) Cultural Festival
