Host's background:
Ron & Anne Hartland

Originally from Oberon - rural New South Wales, Australia, situated about 4 1/2 hours drive west of Sydney.Ron was self-employed as a Fitter and Turner, repairing machinery mainly used in the Farming and Pine Forestry Industries in the Oberon area. Anne, his able Office Manager/Accounts organiser and Boss .

Ron and Anne first came to Vanuatu and specifically to Tanna as proactive members of the Rotary Club of Australia where they immediately fell in love with the island, the Tannese people, their lifestyles and culture. They were instrumental in gaining vital funding for medical assistance required by young Tannese children who, without their 'never say no' attitudes, would still be suffering. They also achieved further funding and then set up a Hospital for the Lanamlangas area.

This work continues to this day!!

They were encouraged by Village Chiefs to develop a resort on the island, using local workers to create and help run the venture and they immediately set plans in place to achieve this dream . They have literally had to cut the resort grounds out of rainforest, then they commenced construction of the resort, starting with a workshop and other infrastructure.

There's plenty more to do and see. Just contact Ron and Anne on Telephone/fax 678 68750. Email  : leneaipalms@vanuatu.com.vu .
