Where else in the world can you roll out of bed and be on a dive site within five minutes? Hideaway Island has become one of the most popular dive centers in Port Vila. We operate a full PADI Dive operation which caters for beginning and experienced divers alike. Hideaway Island is surrounded by a coral wall that in some areas is over 80 metres deep. See rare red and blue anemones, thousands of tropical fish and amazingly healthy and intricate hard corals. Water temperatures range from 23 to 30 and visibility up to 30 metres. There are four dives per day: 8:15am, 10:15am, 1:15pm and 2:45pm and our friendly and experienced dive team will make sure you see the best we have to offer. Certified divers have a number of choices with over 15 dive sites just minutes from shore. Night dives are also available. We offer free transport to divers staying at other properties in Port Vila. The almost currentless waters just offshore make Hideaway Island the perfect place to learn to dive. Our two dive instructors are qualified to teach a wide variety of PADI certification courses. The PADI Openwater and Advanced Courses are individualized and ongoing and are normally completed in 3 or 4 days. You can also take the theory portion of these classes with an instructor at home and complete the dives at Hideaway Island. In November 2001, the "MV Alora" became Hideaway Island's first wreck dive. The following month a tugboat named Bonzo was also sunk just off the reef. All of our dive staff are PADI certified divers with first aid and boat driver qualifications.. Resort facilities include a 7.5 metre aluminum dive boat and a 12 metre Trimaran that's been customized for diving. Also on premises are an equipment wash tub and lockup cage, full equipment hire and underwater camera hire.
