Your unique cultural experience with a bonus round island tour complete with guide!

This tour is for the traveler wishing to experience the traditional way of life in a small local village. The full day tour begins between 8.30/9.00am with your hotel pickup, a one and a quarter hour scenic drive along the west coast to Epau Village for a short stop to stretch the legs and watch hand feeding of fish in the river. A further 15mins drive to Bethel Village where you will be welcomed into the village by warriors, followed by custom dancing.

Morning refreshment will then be provided in the “Round House”. After refreshment visitors participate in the preparation and cooking of food in different traditional ways. While food is cooking visitors will tour the extensive, mostly organic vegetable gardens, be shown local medicinal remedies using plant material, and the many varied ways in which the coconut is prepared and used daily in village life. At lunch savour the flavour of the food you helped prepare and cook, served in the unique locally designed and built restaurant while being entertained with island music by the local string band.

After the leisurely lunch the tour will continue around the island coastline stopping for a few minutes at Klems Hill Lookout with its panaromic view overlooking Hideaway Island and Mele Bay to Port Vila and beyond. The final stop before hotel drop off is a tour of the boutique Tanna Coffee factory in Mele, with tasting of the International Award winning organic coffee processed there, using the beans harvested form local village plantations on Tanna Island. Arrival back at hotels is between 4.30pm / 5.00pm.There is no comparable tour in Vanuatu!!Tours are on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or by special arrangement.
