Overall Increase of Visitor Arrivals in December 2007

 The Pacific Sun makes an entrance to the islands
The National Statistics Office has recently released the December 2007 Visitor Arrival report which compares the flow of visitors between Year 2006 and 2007.

Visitors by Air/Yatchts Day Visitors (by Cruiseship)

• The total visitor arrival for December 2007 was 7,720. This is an overall increase of 7.1% over the month of December 2006. The December totals bring the total visitor arrivals for 2007 to 81,345 compared to 68,179
visitors in 2006. This is an overall increase of 19.3 percent.

• Overall increase in visitor arrivals over the same period are shown for Australia (9.0%), Europe 6.1%, Other Countries (11.9%), and Other Pacific Countries (4.7%). All others however showed decline with North
America (8.5%), Japan (8.0%), New Caledonia (8.0%) and New Zealand 2.4% over the same month in 2006.

• 80.3% of visitor arrivals in December came for holiday, while 8.3% came for business purposes and 10.3% came to visit friends and relatives.

• Out of all visitor arrival in December 62.3% were from Australia followed by New Caledonia and New Zealand with 11.7% each.

• Cruise ship visitor arrivals increased by 23.8% over the same month in 2006.

• The average length of stay for visitors was 10.7 nights and their average age was 35.5 years.
