Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is an idyllic tropical island located in beautiful Mele Bay just 10 minutes from the airport. It is partially surrounded by a coral reef which descends over 80 meters with stunning hard coral formations and a vast abundance of tropical fish & other marine life. Hideaway Island offer fantastic snorkeling and diving in tranquil waters right off the beach and has many more dive sites within 15 minutes of shore. At Hideaway life runs at a relaxed pace. The Melanesian style restaurant is right on the beach where you can dine with your toes in the sand. Our chef, Bruce, shops daily and features fresh, local cuisine and sumptuous deserts. There are no phones, faxes, televisions or computers in any of the rooms. Our aim is to let you relax and enjoy your escape from the working world - Robinson Caruso style! The resort offers a full range of accommodation from dormitory to private Oceanview Bungalows. There is plenty to do for those who like to stay active. Try an "Introductory Dive" with one of our two residentdive instructors or you may want to take a full dive course. There is a snorkel trip to "Coral Gardens" every day at 12:15 which is fun for all ages and free to houseguests. If you are new to snorkeling, one of our local staff will show you how. Sea Kayaks and small sailboats are also free for houseguest use. Those not game to snorkel can view the coral and marine life from the glass bottom boat. Join Stella every Tuesday evening for a late afternoon visit to nearby Mele Village and get a glimpse into the lifestyle of our local staff. Stella also organizes our Thursday night Melanesian Feast where you will have the opportunity to sample the local food and experience custom music and dancing. Other popular activities available within 5 minutes of Hideaway Island include an 18 hole golf course, Horsebackriding, the Mele Botanical Gardens and the Cascade Waterfalls. Getting to town is easy too. Our ferry boat runs 24 hours a day and the city of Port Vila is only a 15 minute bus ride from the beach. Port Vila has a pleasant waterfront location and is known for it's variety of excellent restaurants.
