Right in the centre of Luganville you will be
looked after by a nice smiling couple Sharyn Hilton Louie. The couple
originally Chinese but their parents have migrated to Australia back
over 70 years ago and their accent speaks for themselves as Australians.
Hilton the manager has had very strong ties within the restaurant
field since the age of bachelor and has been working in restaurants
himself. He has two generations background in restaurant and chef so one
can imagine the skills and knowledge that has been passed
down.
Sharyn the wife was previously involved in secretarial and
administration before resigning and joining up with her husband in the
restaurant field after tying the knot. With a vast combined experience
with restaurant and catering well over 30 years they decided to invest in
another country. They fell in love with the South Pacific Paradise
and chose Espiritu Santo
as their destiny.
Ocean King Café and Restaurant has relocated to the new Apex
Hotel centre of town next to the Tourism Office. The old location was
quite hard to find by tourists, back way no street lights at night. With
their customers convincing them to relocate them finally found a nice spot
at the Apex to set up. The new restaurant was opened on Friday 18th
January.
The menu offered is Western, Australian, Chinese and
Breakfast. Opening hours Breakfast and Lunch Monday till Friday 7.30 am to
4 .00 pm and Saturday and Sunday 8.30 am till 2 pm. Dinner from
Monday till Sunday 5.30pm till 9.30 pm. For dinner booking is
essential.
This is not just about opening a new restaurant but it’s
everything fresh like fresh seafood, local Santo beef, fresh
vegetables ,Tanna coffee everything on the menu is fresh “ You have tried
the rest now try the best come to Ocean King “ quotes the Hilton the
Manager smiling.
Their past experience simplified their daily running of
their new café and restaurant. With staffs the restaurant employs all Ni
Vanuatu and making sure they acquire the proper skills, knowledge
they teach to enable them to move on in the future with the
relevant skills they have learnt at the restaurant. They also teach
them to speak proper English as this will be the main language when
approaching their customers. They enjoy assisting the staff as well as
employing them and making sure everyone is happy.
